NDFI and Venezuela exploring cooperation opportunities: Venezuelan ambassador at NDFI
The Chairman of Board of Executive Directors of National Development Fund of Iran met with the Venezuelan ambassador and his advisor. Dr. Seyed Safdar Hosseini referred to his previous visits to Venezuela as finance minister in 2005 and complimented Iranian private sector activities in Venezuela. He elaborated on the strategies, General policies, obligations and performance of the fund and pointed to the notable changes that these determinants have under gone in the past few months. He emphasized on the support of NDFI for the investments of the private sector outside of Iran and also foreign investors in Iran.
The Venezuelan ambassador expressed his countries readiness to further expand cooperation among both countries and also noted that Venezuela serves as a gateway to Caribbean region which will enhance and ease exports of Iranian goods to the region. The majority of potential cooperation ground with NDFI may be discussed in the upcoming joint commission next month. In response to inquiries by NDFI president the ambassador noted the current AUM of Venezuela SWF to be 25 billion dollars, and that of the central bank to be 27-30 billion dollars.
On a final note, NDFI president gave a positive note on cooperation through the joint commission and added that NDFI according to its AoA is able to finance Iranian contractors in Venezuela.
